New pocket camcorder with built-in projector from 3M

3M Projector

3M has just unveiled a new pocket camcorder that has a built-in pico projector, the Shoot ‘n’ Share CP40. It can throw up images and videos up to 65 inches in size at VGA resolution, though it has the ability to record 720p videos or five-megapixel photos. While there is just 14MB of built-in memory, a microSDHC memory card slot lets users add up to 32GB of storage, good for about 20 hours of video. The projector has 12 lumens of brightness when working off the CP40’s built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery or 14 lumens when plugged in. Thanks to an HMDI output, the camera can also play back content on connected external displays, though not at 720p resolution. When the CP40 will launch or what it will cost have not been revealed.

Lenovo’s LePad tablet due December, U1 now a separate dock

Lenovo’s IdeaPad U1 Hybrid, a modular notebook that was introduced back around CES time in January, will be split up into separate products, according to Engadget. The device was said to be shelved shortly after its introduction, but now it will be produced again. The LePad tablet will be the first component of the IdeaPad U1 hybrid to see store shelves, albeit in China. The 10.1-inch device will be put up against Apple’s iPad when it launches in December in China, before being joined in January by the notebook half to produce the originally promised device. Specs on either device are not available, but originally, it was believed to sport an ARM CPU for the tablet portion, which had an 11.6-inch screen at the introduction at CES. It was also said to use a Skylight Linux OS, but since has switched to Android. The tablet would also have a 16GB flash drive, 512MB of RAM, and graphics processing integrated into the Snapdragon chip. The notebook portion would add Windows 7 and an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU along with 4GB of DDR3 RAM, with storage options that include a 128GB SSD.

New Crazy OCS-9 tablet with Oak Trail CPU

Before IDF 2010, you’d likely never heard of a South Korean electronics company called Ocosmos. Now, their crazy concepts are bursting out of the woodwork. This OCS-9 tablet above not only boasts an Oak Trail processor and 9-inch, 1024 x 768 capacitive touchscreen, but also a removable stylus that slots into a hole into the back to stand the tablet up in either portrait or landscape modes and — get this — a slide-out, removable touchscreen QWERTY keypad with two OMOS Keys on either side. There’s a 3 megapixel webcam on the front and Windows 7 will reportedly run inside, and the whole thing slots into a TV dock with a host of video ports to let you watch video when sitting down. No word on battery life or performance quite yet, as the tablet’s most definitely an early prototype, but the company’s shooting for a working version by CES and a release in Q2 2011, for a $500 estimated price. Here’s hoping these dreams come true, because as far as concepts go, we likey. Update: Now with close-up pics of that removable keypad, stylus stand and more, plus a few shots of another potential look for the OCS-1. These folks never stop prototyping! By the by, we’re told the OCS-9 tablet has pretty much the same hardware inside, including GMA 600 graphics and 802.11 b/g WiFi.

New Yamaha A/V Receivers AVENTAGE Series Geeekkk

Yamaha today introduced a line of A/V receivers that embody obsessive attention to detail combined with a multitude of engineering refinements made to achieve peak performance at affordable price points. The new AVENTAGE (pronounced Ah-Ven-Taj) A/V Receiver Series is the result of Yamaha’s meticulous design process to refine and re-engineer the receiver from the ground up, and to make subtle changes that mean the difference between good and great sound. The new series is a complement to Yamaha’s award-winning RX-V line, which will continue to carry attractive feature sets in the opening to mid-level price points.

2. yamaha aventage rxa2000 (yamaha rxa2000)

2. yamaha aventage rxa3000 (yamaha rxa3000)

The AVENTAGE series is not just the “next generation” by any measure. Yamaha’s R&D team took a granular look at every design aspect, including circuitry, construction, components, volume and sound reproduction qualities—even eco-friendly considerations for power consumption. Subtle tweaks that may not be readily obvious to the end user—yet essential ingredients needed to provide peak performance—were continually evaluated and tested before being implemented in the final product line. Examples of the many enhancements include the addition of a specially designed 5th foot to improve structural rigidity, reduce vibration and improve sound. Yamaha also incorporated double-bottom construction on select models to improve peak performance at any volume level. Components including wires, fuses and electrical paths were a major part of the refining/redesign equation. The end result is a work of visual and acoustic art that enthusiasts and custom integrators will appreciate.

Key common features in the AVENTAGE series include:

  • 7.2 channels with full HD Audio decoding (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio
  • Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio)
  • Four SCENE buttons
  • iPod compatibility (with optional YDS-12 or YID-W10 wireless yAired dock)
  • Bluetooth compatibility
  • Compressed Music Enhancer
  • Low Jitter PLL Circuitry
  • HDMI V.1.4a 3D Pass-through with ARC (Audio Return Channel)
  • YPAO room optimizer
